Nutrition

The first definition of nutrition in many dictionaries is the process of nourishing oneself or the process of being nourished.

As humans one of our primary sources of nourishment is food. Food being defined again primarily as a nourishing substance taken into the body to sustain life, provide energy and promote growth. Because of biological necessity, being our primary source of physical nourishment, food demands a significant amount of our attention each day at least 3 times a day for most people, the desire to eat arises it becomes our primary focus until we find satiation. There is no shortage in the western world of options for satiating this need, every corner there is a restarant, every shop some food item and every second or third commercial is about some other food product being advertised. It is all around us. Interestingly however we have a greater food crisis on this planet than ever before and also more food related disease ever before on the rise, and many global food issues we are faced right now as a planet. Our primary source of nourishment “food” has become a primary source of constraint in the modern world. Our most basic source of nourishment has become a complication. Just even accessing basic clean uncontaminated food has become more of a challenge than ever before. Though certainly there are more food products available than ever before. Interestingly called food there are many substances that we injest which we call “food” that barely fit into this category if at all. Many are devoid of the nutrients that we need for proper growth, they are lacking in vitality and can be energy depleting or create unbalanced energy in the body and they hardly can be said to sustain life even if they do satiate
