Howl’s Moving Castle Movie Evaluation
In the movie Howl’s Moving Castle, in the movie shows through the eyes different of people how war effects them. The main characters that will be discussing in this movie evaluation is Sophie, Howl, and Markel We will begin with Sophie, I see that throughout the movie she is quiet and reserved at first but when the Witch of the Waste who is chasing Howl cast a spell on her and makes her an old crone then because of it is determined to break the curse. Ken Tucker had this to say about Sophie and the curse that was put on her “Sophie’s spell is an immense harridan called the Witch of the Waste; she makes a long journey that parallels Sophie’s trip to the Kingdom where the prince’s parents, as king and queen, are preoccupied with an impending war.” He also said this about Sophie, “Sophie’s pursuit of love is impeded when she has a spell cast upon her that turns her into a hunched ninety year old woman. As the movie goes on this sweet young women turns into an old lady with a no nonsense attitude and will not tolerate any childish behaviors from Markel, Howl, or Calcifer. The movie shows that one bad thing can lead up to a person growing up and dealing with life as it comes. Howl deals with different things throughout the movie that are way different from Sophie. Howl has different problems that go on due to two warring nations. Roger Ebert observed and stated “Howl is summoned to serve both warring kingdoms, which presents him with

Character Evaluation When thinking about the big five personality traits and one of my favorite films, I choose the movie Shrek. On the extraversion scale, Shrek is definitely at the low end. He displays far more introverted actions than extrovert. Shrek is neither warm nor gregarious with the exception of his friends and family and even then it’s only occasionally. We see repeatedly in the movie how Shrek tries to drive and keep others away from him. We see that he also fails to pause following…
