CHAPTER THREE: METHODOLGY 3.0 Introduction This chapter shall discuss the research methodology of this study. Basically, this chapter included the research design, the population and sample, research instrument that has been used, the pilot study, the data collection procedure, and data analysis employed in this study.
3.1 Research Design Research design is the basic plan or strategy of research (Oppenheim, 1999). In this study, survey research was used as the research design. The survey research is suitable for describing a large population in a certain place. The researcher proposes to use the descriptive survey design to gather data relating to the impact of social media among the youth on behaviour change,

This research is carried out by using descriptive research. According to Saunders et al., (2003) descriptive survey has a broad appeal for planning, monitoring and evaluating policies. This research was a quantitative research where it supposed to relied on the use of predetermined or standardized data collection instruments in order to enable the used of statistical techniques in assisting the interpretation of the data (Rusli & Hasbee, 2011). The research will be done in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to examine the impact of social media among the youth on behaviour change. Questionnaires will be distributed to the respondents in order to collect the data of this research. Researchers are allowed to make early prediction about the findings in descriptive research.
3.2 Population

Descriptive analysis is carried out hence will give a comparison of frequency of cases found in the various categories of one variable across the different categories of another variable. Descriptive statistics was used to describe data that have been collected (Mason& Lind, 1996). It was the measures of central tendency (mean, median and mode) and dispersion (range, variance, standard deviation and quartiles). The measures described and summarized the distribution of a single variable. It also enabled the understanding of the relationship between two or more variables being studied.
3.7 Conclusion In conclusion, this chapter provides an overview on how to propose methodology will be used to study the impact of social media among the youth on behaviour change in Universiti Malaysian Sarawak (UNIMAS). In order to produce more reliable data, other various methods can be used in the
