Metaphor Comparisons
1. Thomas Hobbes can be compared to the song “Where is the love". In the song it talks about how the world is so messed up and how everyone is selfish in making the wrong decisions. This song is similar to Hobbes since he was convinced that all humans were selfish and wicked because of the horrors of the English Civil War.
2. Jean Jacques Rousseau can be compared to the song "Let it Go". In the song it talks about wanting to be free from everyone's judgment and being independent and confident in yourself. This song is similar to Rousseau since he was passionately committed to individual freedom. He believed that man is born free and that civilization has corrupted people’s natural goodness.
3. The Baron of Montesquieu can be compared to the song “One from the Stands”. In the song it talks about justice and wanting peace and liberty. This song is similar to Montesquieu since he devoted himself to the study of political liberty. He believed that separation of powers would keep anyone from gaining total control of the government.
4. John Locke can be compared to the song “Crystal Balls”. In the song it talks about how we make mistakes, but we learn from them to be a better person. This song is similar to Locke since he thought that humans could teach themselves from their mistakes and improve. He believed in three natural rights: life, liberty, and property.
