Meg Whitman was born Margaret Cushing Whitman on August 4, 1956, in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, New York. The youngest of the Hendricks and Margaret Cushing’s three children, Meg grew up in Cold Harbor Spring, New York. Her father worked for Wall Street while her mother was a stay-at-home mom. Confident and bright, she didn’t shy from intelligence, and in 1974 she graduated from high school after just three years. She entered Princeton and earned a bachelor degree in economics. Evaluating how the Values of the CEO are likely to influence Ethical Behavior within the company The ethics of an organization is a code of conduct that expresses the values of the organization to the organization’s employees. According to Meg Whitman, current CEO of HP, the company wants to be known for ethical leadership so that employees can be proud to work for them, and customers and partners will continue to do business with them. Hewlett-Packard considers it important to focus and understand the financial aspect of their business and must be on the right path to financial performance while at the same time focusing on proper business ethics. The company knows that it must comply with federal, state, and local laws and conduct business with complete honesty and integrity in such a way that best serves the interest of the business, employees, and customers.

Meg Whitman brings a character of strong will to the company, she believes that Hewlett-Packard’s ethical policies will promote a culture of integration and inclusion of good ethical decisions wherever on the globe the company operates even if it means holding the company and its partners to a higher standard than local laws or customs require. She encourages employees to check whenever they are not sure of the right thing to do.
