Medical Marijuana

Do you know how many people are arrested every year for taking medication, which makes their lives less painful and more enjoyable, even livable? Many people would be surprised to know how much money, time, and energy is wasted on making sure people do not use the only medication they have found to treat the diseases, disorders, and ailments that make their lives unbearable in many different ways. Medical marijuana can and has been used to treat over 200 different ailments, disorders, and diseases with amazing results including cures for things that have never had a cure before now. Medical marijuana needs to be legalized everywhere within the United States as it provides many benefits including chronic pain & nausea relief, autism & brain tumor treatments and much more.

Medical marijuana is used to relieve various symptoms of different ailments, disorders, and diseases that many people suffer from daily. One of the number one uses for medical marijuana is to relieve chronic pain from muscle spasms, nausea and vomiting because of chemotherapy, loss of appetite in AIDS/HIV, and neuropathy pain. More than 76 million Americans suffer from chronic pain, more people than diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined, according to the National Centers for Health Statistics. With such a large number of people affected by chronic pain, one might think that medical professionals have a good handle on how to treat chronic pain. However, this is not true. Chronic pain is one of the hardest ailments to properly treat. Currently opiates are the number one medicine prescribed to treat chronic pain. Opiates come with many possible side affects including sedation, euphoria, dizziness, fatigue, depression, tremors, sleeplessness, anxiousness, flu-like symptoms, upset stomach, dry mouth, pupil constriction, itching, hallucination, delirium, sweating, muscle and bone pain, confusion, extreme irritability and muscle spasms and more. In addition to the long list of side effects that is associated with opiates, they also come with a very high rate of patients overdosing by taking too many milligrams of medication while trying to alleviate their pain. On the other hand, medical marijuana comes with little to no side effects ("About Marijuana", Para 2). Most side affects associated with medical marijuana are associated with the lungs and smoking marijuana but currently marijuana can be ingested through inhaling vapors, eating edibles, and drinking beverages that include non of the side effects which once plagued people and stopped medical professional from prescribing marijuana to their patients. Recent studies now show that patients could decrease their opiate intake, increase their medical marijuana intake, and have greater pain relief than ever before. Researchers were not sure what to expect when adding medical marijuana to opiate use, but they were pleasantly surprised to find out that the medical marijuana and opiate mixing had no adverse affects on the patients. In fact it showed them, that patients could decrease the amount of opiates which they are currently taking and have greater pain relief. Medical marijuana also relieves people of nausea. Many people experience extreme nausea from multiple sclerosis, cancer treatment, and pregnancy morning sickness.

Another benefit medical marijuana offers is treatment and cures for debilitating diseases. Medical marijuana is used to treat AIDS/HIV, Alzheimer’s, Tourettes Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, seizures, migraine headaches, liver fibrosis, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, diabetes, depression, Crohn’s Disease, cancer, brain tumors, Autism, arthritis, and many more. AIDS/HIV affects more than 34 million people worldwide. AIDS/HIV patients suffer simultaneously from severe pain, nausea, appetite loss, fatigue, and muscle atrophy. Medical marijuana offers broad-spectrum relief not available in another single medication. A majority of
