Marijuana Legalization
One of the Major topics contended about all over the media, congress, and in public resides in our countries War on Drugs. Marijuana rests the most commonly used illegal drug and stirs up perpetual debate universally. The effects of the marijuana are temporary and it has been recognized that it is less dangerous than alcohol. So if it is less destructive than alcohol, why is it illegal? There are many drugs that are harmful to the body and destroy cells within the body. Some of them also can kill you or fatally harm you with long term usage. Marijuana should be made legal because it can help with many medical conditions. Marijuana can also be substituted for fatal pills that can cause worse afflictions on your body. Marijuana can change the world but with it being illegal it is limited on what it can do. States like Colorado and California have their own laws on marijuana but, it needs to be made legal nationally.
Marijuana leaves and flowers contain unique molecules called cannabinoids. To be exact there are sixty different kinds of them, and tetrahydrorcannabinal is the strongest one. The human body has Endocannabinoids which is a form of cannabinoids (Herkenham). Several Americans suffer with depression and struggle finding ways to cope with it. The medicines that doctors prescribe have severe side effects, or take a while to enter the blood system. Participants in a pilot study felt the reason they continued to smoke marijuana was because, they felt relieved of their symptoms (Hashibe). When the body is injured; or has a stroke endocannabinoids release in the body to relieve a short amount of pain. When those two combine there is an immense suppression of stress and relief (Pope).
Marijuana brings billions of people relief from agony felt on a day-to-day, we are for the legalization of Marijuana because we believe that not only does it have many medical uses, but it would bring great relief to economy. Chronic Pain has been one of the most controversial medical topics. The people who suffer with loss of energy, nausea and loss of appetite typically have chronic pain (Mittleman). Several new drugs are being discovered but, the fact still remains that the medicine takes a while to enter the blood stream. These medicines make new threats and gives the patient other symptoms. The most common drugs used are Ritalin, tranquilizers, and sleeping pills (Polen). Smoking marijuana has a longer relief rather than taking pills. Studies show that taking marijuana works faster than all other medication. All forms of marijuana are photoactive which change the way you ruminate (Gruber). Therefore, you think you’re relieved even though you are not.
Drinking was the cause of 34,833 people dying in 2001. (Moore) There were no deaths reported in two large studies using the drug marijuana. 65,177 men and women age 15-49 did a test over the course of 10 years and, marijuana users did not die earlier than non-users (Moore). Marijuana has fewer side effects than tobacco products in addition to all the other drugs. Marijuana has several medicinal uses; helping with problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder, glaucoma, chrons disease, migraines and, parkinson disease (Budney). Smoking marijuana stimulates the mind, since it is medical (pertaining to or giving evidence to someone’s health) it should not be held to the standards of common misused drugs. In fact with the government making synthetic marijuana is proven to be worse than natural
