Introduction:
Since the emerge of the societies and social life, political theorists tried to develop frameworks and ideas in order to explain main causes of incidents that occur in international relations. Two German thinkers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels developed a theory mainly based on a materialist view of history and society in early 1900s, which is commonly referred as Marxism. Since its' introduction to the political science Marxism have become one of the core schools of thoughts in international relations.

However, Marxism in practice has evolved and shown differentiations from the initial thoughts and ideas argued by Marx and Engel. Especially Bolshevik leaders such as Lenin and Stalin have interpreted Marx’s ideas

They were suffering from lack of financial capacity and manpower to regain their economic and political power. Moreover, political tendency towards radicalised right views were in decline due to the defeat of Fascist and National-Socialist regimes. Under these circumstances, Marxist ideas such as socialism, communism, solidarity, etc. were roaming around European states easier then they were before.

The Soviet Union has gave its’ support to the revolutionary groups around the world both directly and indirectly. Following the expansion of the Soviets, a serious number of states followed up Marxist traditions and have created regimes in accordance with communist ideals. Some of the current communist states of the world are as follows:

➢ People’s Republic of China (PRC) ➢ Republic of Cuba (RC) ➢ Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) ➢ Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) ➢ Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LPDR)

On the other hand, in contemporary world it is questionable how Marxist-Communist these countries are. Although many of these countries continued to follow the ideas of the Marxist school, they use diverse approaches while establishing their economic structures. For instance, some communist states like the PRC and the SRV have adopted widespread market reforms since the early 1990s in order to coop with the international trade system.
