Capitalism is society where there is a divide between two classes the bourgeoisie and the proletarians; Marxist sees the society as a massive supper structure with the bourgeoisie at the base of the structure and the proletarians. The bourgeoisie control the proletarians, using them for cheep labour and exploitation. Marxist view of the family is to support the capitalism society; he believes that there is no other benefit of the family apart from contributing towards capitalism. All the families in a capitalist society are either working class or ruling class, he believes that there are five main functions of the family that help maintain a capitalist society - Inheritance of Private Property, Ideological functions ,A unit of consumption, Providing emotional support for the workers and Reproducing the future proletariat workers. This means that the ruling class with always own the same properties because they will just get passed down from generation to generation so their will be no working class able to own their land/properties which causes a divide.
