Mr. Woods Abraham Lincoln
I believe Abraham Lincoln is the best president ever because Lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation, approved the 13th amendment, and he did what needed to be done in order to keep America together.
In a recent test done by 49 historians and scientists, Abraham Lincoln came out on top.
The testing categories included leadership qualities, accomplishments/crisis management, political skills, and character/integrity. Abe was followed by FDR, George Washington, Teddy,
Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, and Harry Truman. Lincoln came on top in every category making him the best president ever. (CreditMillercenter) I also believe without Lincoln, there would have been slavery still in our country. The
United States would have probably not been a superpower because nobody would have wanted to immigrate to a place where slavery is legal. No other country would have liked to do business or trade with a country that would have had slavery. Several other countries would still have had slavery because the country that has helped the most in getting rid of slavery in this world was the United States. And when the United States would have had slavery, everybody would have also. His signing of the emancipation proclamation not only kept the nation together, but it also advanced the idea of the 13th amendment which completely got rid of slavery. Which without those two documents, the country would be in ruins as stated in the previous paragraphs. I also believe that without Lincoln, there would have not been a United States of
America. There would probably just been North United States and South United states. He stood firm and broke a few laws in order to
November 2014 Abraham Lincoln as Commander in Chief President Abraham Lincoln was not exactly prepared to be commander in chief in the civil war. There were times where you can clearly see President Lincoln is inexperienced, but then you can see him being a true real commander in chief. When time comes President Lincoln will step up to the challenge and be our leader. As you all know the union wins the civil war all thanks to one of our greatest presidents. Abraham Lincoln did have some positive…
People at Lincoln Electric Company By Dr. Kim A. Stewart Jones International University Let’s recall for a moment a key question that we raised in Module 3. Can a company be both a low cost leader and best differentiator in its industry, making the best quality products at the lowest cost? Yes, it’s possible but it is exceptionally rare. Lincoln Electric Company is one of the very few companies that have achieved this pinnacle. Headquartered in Euclid, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, Lincoln Electric…
James McPherson’s We Cannot Escape History: Lincoln and the Last Best Hope of Earth is an excellent narrative about the difficult situation when Abraham Lincoln became president. No president of the United States has ever taken office under harder circumstances than Abraham Lincoln. By the time of his inauguration day, a majority of the South had already seceded. And, he had neither the support nor the confidence of the North. To most Americans, Lincoln was relatively unknown. His unsophisticated…
In the first half of his lecture on Lincoln vs. The Constitution, Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo makes the bold statement declaring that President Abraham Lincoln acted as a dictator. While many historians criticize his blatant abuse of power, other historians applaud Lincoln’s actions saying they were best for the country’s future. The Constitution in no way condones the act of creating a dictatorship; President Lincoln’s actions of overriding the legislative and judicial branches were not necessary…
Abraham Lincoln is considered one of the most influential politicians and certainly one of the best writers in American politics. Nonetheless, his carefully crafted language in works like The Gettysburg Address, his First and Second Inaugural Addresses, the Emancipation Proclamation, and his many public and private letters has been the target of both deferential praise and harsh criticism. Mark E. Neely Jr., Lincoln scholar and Pulitzer Prize winning historian, is the author of The Last Best Hope of…
Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas debates were mainly focused on slavery versus free labor, popular sovereignty, and the legal and political status of black Americans. Lincoln criticized Douglas for his support of popular sovereignty and the Kansas-Nebraska Act, while Douglas accused Lincoln of racial equality and disruption of the Union. Douglas accused Lincoln of being too radical on the slavery question, a charge that Lincoln struggled to deny. Lincoln appeared stronger, putting Douglas on…
was reconstruction. Although Lincoln and the Radical Republicans shared some views after the war, they ultimately disagreed on the handling of reconstruction. Abraham Lincoln's way of reconstructing the South was through amnesty. He felt forgiveness was the best way to bring the South back. Lincoln believed slavery should be abolished in America. After the North won the Civil War, he wanted all the land to be given back to the South. Lincoln believed ten percent of each southern…
Daniel Thorburn Period 2 Lincoln’s Persuasion to the People Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was a speech to persuade the Americans to unite and finish the work of the soldiers. Lincoln used specific phrasing to get the crowds into thinking by his perspective. Lincoln wanted them to look forward because better times shall come and to finish the work of the soldiers. Abraham signified that his purpose of the speech was to persuade the audience to unite and finish the work of the soldiers. Abraham…
