Leadership vs. Management

Introduction
This report is an analysis of leadership and management. The result of analysis includes the definition of leadership and management and the differences of leadership and management.

Definition of leadership
Leadership is known as the ability of inspiring a group of people to operate towards a common objective in a method that wholly esteems their freedom. It is a strong connection of personal qualities and the aptitude to think and perform as a leader, a character who administrates the activities of others for the benefit of all.
Moreover, leadership is viewed as a discovery of oneself, setting vision that is well communicated, foster faith among associates and taking effectual steps to motivate ones latent leadership potential.
Leaders can be born or made as some people seems to be endue with extra leadership faculty than others typically, whereas some people train to become a leader by focusing on amending a specific leadership skills.

Definition of management
A process that is used on achieving a given organizational aims is known as management. In other words, it is a procedure that is practiced to obtain what a particular organization is desire of. In the marketing field, management is defined as administration in a company, institution or business that are accountable for directing the affairs of the organization for attaining its short-term and long-term goal, and for sustaining it as a profit-making organization and/or an constant enterprise.
Furthermore, management is well-known as both art and science. It is known as an art for causing people to be more productive than they would in your absence, while the science is the method you accomplish that.
The individual to whom this management role is allocated is known as manager, and normally he or she accomplish the yearned aims through the main functions which are planning, organizing, directing and monitoring.

Differences of Leadership and management
Subordinates and followers control
The method used to induce others to work and follow them is the major differences of a leader and a manager. A manager has subordinates that obey his instruction plainly because of the managers’ power of authority given by the company. The subordinates follow what the manager instructs because they are paid with salary to do so.
On the other hand, a leader has to relinquish imperious control over subordinates to have followers as to lead is to have follower while following is a volitional act. Leaders use their charismatic skills to motivate others to follow them and their followers would sacrifice their time and energy just to follow them.

Point of view towards risk and chances
Besides that, managers would be loath to risk chances and would stay on the safe side to prevent conflict as well as troubles as they are paid by the company to accomplish work. They may get fired or deduction of salary at any cost.
Whereas leaders are more risk-favorable compare to managers and contemplate pathway that others dodge as possible chances. Leaders are daring to face obstacles along the way to reach their vision.

Roles and responsibility
The role of a manager and a leader has diverse commitment in a company. A leader embarks positive changes in the company in a way of setting new vision or method of achieving the optimum productivity while a managers’ role is to fit into the changes and preserve the state of affair until new changes occurs.

Results
In a nutshell, the difference between leadership and management is: Leadership is setting a new direction or vision for a group that they follow, like a leader is the spearhead for that new direction and Management controls or directs people or resources in a group according to principles or values that have already been established.
