Essay II: Leadership Experience Essay

I have held multiple leadership positions through out high school; I have been an ambassador, a Latin club officer, and a senior model. But the leadership positions that I am most proud of was when I was hired as a nanny last summer. John Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” I feel that I can really relate to this quote.
From a baby’s first words to their first day of school and all the experiences in between watching a child grow and helping them learn is the most rewarding experience in my opinion. Starting last summer I was hired as a nanny for three children who are one, two and five years old. At the beginning of the summer I definitely had my work cut out for me. As I walked into the house the children were kicking and screaming and being put in time out. I’m not going to lie I was hesitant to take the job but my mom always told me once you commit to something you do not quit no matter how hard the path may be. Through out the summer I was their leader, teacher, cook, and mode of transportation. I think over all what changed the children the most was the love that I showed them that their parents did not displayed towards them often. In the past year I have been able to teach the baby girl how to walk, the two-year-old boy new words, teach them the difference between right and wrong, and so much more.
