The Department of Public Works and Transportation is currently seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Transit Services Manager, grade G31, in the Office of Transportation.

This is management level, supervisory and administrative work responsible for managing the administrative and operational components of the County's Transit Program which includes, The Bus, Para-transit, Metrobus, Metrorail, Ridesharing, and fringe parking. Work is performed with extensive latitude for independent judgment and action under the general direction of the Associate Director of Transportation. Performance is evaluated based upon the relative achievement of program goals and objectives.

Examples of Work:

Supervises the staff and daily activities of the Transit Division; develops division's goals, objectives and evaluation criteria in conjunction with the Associate Director; establishes administrative and operational policies and procedures; determines staffing requirements and facilitates the recruitment and selection process; prepares division's budget recommendations; monitors revenue and expenditures and recommends cost containment measures; oversees grant preparation and administration; prepares narrative and technical reports; maintains liaison with other Departmental and local government agencies and officials involving transit matters; reviews and comments upon legislation; oversees the administration of contracted fixed route bus services as well as Para-transit operations programs; participates as a critical/essential employee in the Department's Snow and Ice Control Program and other special or emergency operations as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Master's Degree in Business/Public Administration, Urban/Regional Planning, Transportation or a closely related field; plus five (5) years of experience managing the administrative and operational components of a diverse transit program as described above. Two (2) of the five (5) years of experience must have included supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
