General goal: To inform
Specific purpose: To inform my audience about the 3 main organisms that are genetically modified.
Method of organization: Topical

Introduction

A. Hook- The year is 1982, scientists Ralph Brinster and Richard Palmiter were in their lab and curious if anything would happen by inserting a human growth hormone into an animal. They experimented this idea by using a mouse. The results of that experiment? The Supermouse was created. The Supermouse was over twice as big as the parents. Now the year is 2015 and research for transgenic organisms have advanced greatly.
B. Topic Revealed- Transgenic organisms can be defined as those which have received sequences of DNA by artificial means, followed by integration of one or more of the novel sequences into their chromosomal DNA.
C. Credibility- I first became interested in transgenic organisms when I watched a documentary in school and saw all of the amazing advancements scientist have been making. Since then I have done an extensive amount of research by reading numerous articles and using websites to discover more about this interesting topic.
D. Link- Genetic engineering is important for you all to learn more about because in the short future there will be huge advancements in research of this field.
E. Preview- My speech will inform you all about the three main organisms that are genetically modified. These organisms are transgenic fish, transgenic mammals and transgenic plants.

[First off we will talk about…]

I. Transgenic fish are a major organism that is genetically modified.
A. Fish that are used are ones such as Gold fish, Salmon, Carps, and Tilapias.
B. These fish are created to be used in the aquaculture industry.
1. Used to increase the speed of development.
2. Used for reducing fishing pressure on wild stock.
3. Used to maintain the ecosystem of fresh water.
C. Breeding the fish using genetic engineering technique can make more profit.
1. There will save some species from extinction.
D. This is the first genetically modified animal to become publically available as pets.

[Secondly, the idea of…]

II. Transgenic mammals
A. Basic animals that are used for this research are cattle, dogs, goats and mice.
B. These animals are created to produce knockout animals.
1. Used in research to investigate changes in phenotypes when specific genes are altered.
C. They are created to
