Influence of Visual Media on Culture

Influence of visual medial on culture has gone on for many years. Visual entertainment media is a part of everyone’s everyday lives. You interact with computers, smart phones, tablets, televisions, and many more forms of visual media daily. It is hard to know when the first movie was made, I have seen everything from 1888 to 1895 for the first movie. Families have been having family night for generations. They used to sit around a table and play games, or go to the skating rink, or bowling. They would visit a drive inn theater to watch a movie together. Now families everywhere gather around the television to watch their favorite shows, or entertainer. Primetime television is a way of family bonding.
Movies have changed the way people act, dress, talk and walk for a long time now. Movies such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Twilight, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Ring movies have such huge followers. They have held special conventions, and contest to show appreciation to their fans. Movies have the ability to change the way things are done. In 1936, Margret Mitchell wrote a novel that would change the media world. In 1939, a movie of that novel was made. It was called “Gone with the Wind.” It was the first movie to be made with a profane word in it. After that television would forever be changed. Now days turning on the television and hearing the word damn is a common thing.
