Abstract The subject for observation in this case study is The Plaza Inn (the company), a hospitality entity located in Kansas City, KS a franchise member of a French hotel affiliate group Based on these factors, the following observations were made about the company. Economic conditions – This factor encompasses the state of the economy of a country, a region or the entire world, which is usually in a state of one of two conditions - growth or recession. At the end of 1990 the demand at the company declined stemming from the impact of the national recession in USA. The international environment typically includes factors of the task and general environment, but, on an international scale. For example, in this scenario, the Ritz-Carlton, an internationally recognized company has setup a location in the same area as the company. They operate on an international scale and are a direct competitor to the company. The company also received the worst ratings of all the Inns in the Relais & Chateaux chain. This chain consist of companies internationally that are listed under the brand. Compared to all the others in the chain, the company was at the bottom of the list, this is another example of how its operations are affected in the context of the international environment. COORDINATION AND CONTROL In terms of organizational theory, coordination and control can be viewed from many angles. In this analysis it will be viewed from a decision making angle.
