Human Life Issues Should abortion be permitted? Some people say yes and others say no. Why or why not should this action be permitted? Most people that think abortion should be permitted is because it is for the sake of the mother's health and mental health, possibly due to a crime like rape, incest or child abuse. Also abortions are looked upon because of what they call "Unacceptable quality of life" which is serious physical handicaps, genetic problems or even mental defects. Some people have abortions due to poverty or a mother being to young to cope with a child or as a matter of the government policy of regulating the population size. People that are against abortions believe that it is just like murder, the fetus has a heartbeat, your are killing and innocent child. If it is based on the mother's health even if they know that it is life threatening there are medicines to take and even procedures that can be done to prevent from getting pregnant and having to abort a child. If it is due to a crime why create another crime in aborting, if a child was concieved during a crime the opposite party is obviously serving justice for it and why not let a child be raised in a different home with a loving family through adoption. There are already scars from the crime done but why not heal others wounds by adopting the child out. During pregnancy there are so many testings that you can have done to see if your child will have any birth defects or handicaps. Most doctors will tell you to terminate the pregnancy because of a test not coming back natural. Some will say that they are having an abortion because they dont have the money to raise a child or are in poverty. Putting your child up for an adoption to give it a good home where the child will be taken care of is costless. If the mother is to young to cope with a child they have many types of Birth Control to help prevent pregnancy and if they are too young to care for a child they should not be sexually active. If you are going to be sexually active then you are ready to have responsibilities and be a parent if you become pregnant. As for the government policy of regulating the population size they should have a different way to go about abortions and do a prevention and offer other things to the people. For instance there is a woman from the small town that I am from who was trying for her 3rd child. When she concieved and went to the doctor she had test ran on the baby. The test came out that the unborn child had tested positive for Trisomy 18 which is also known as Edwards syndrome, is a condition which is caused by a error in cell division, known as meiotic disjunction. What is Trisomy 18 (At conception, 23 chromosomes from the father and 23 chromosomes from the mother combine to create a baby with a set of 46 chromosomes in each cell. A trisomy occurs when a baby has three #18 chromosomes instead
