Friendship One of the most wonderful aspects about true friendships is trust and how two people can overcome the ‘flaws’ in the other. Friendships are built on huge amounts of trust. One must be honest and overcome the truth. Friendships should never be based on race. Those sort of relationships are superficial relationships, that do not define the true meaning of friendship. Friendships have no limits, no boundaries, and no regrets. In The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain displays a close relationship between a runaway boy named Huck Finn and a runaway slave named Jim. Together the two experience an adventure of a lifetime. Throughout the book , Jim and Huck’s relationship grows exponentially and becomes one of the most marvelous friendships of all time. Jim ,ironically, takes on an adult role in protecting Huck from the Duke and the King. Shortly after, Jim tells Huck what he did to his daughter Lizabeth. Then, towards the end of the book, Huck is miserable , in a state of shock, and begins to cry ,when the Duke and King sell Jim.

Throughout the book , The adventures of Huckleberry Finn , there are a significant amount of examples to show how Mark Twain displayed Huck and Jim’s friendship. Jim watches the King and the Duke closely around Huck. This is showing a sign of Jim’s fatherly -type role towards Huck. Jim expresses his intelligence and concern for Huck’s well-being. Later, Jim is reminded of his daughter, by a loud smack he heard somewhere. He tells Huck the story about what he has done to his daughter and shows how he regrets doing so. This shows a sign of trust between Huck and Jim. Lastly,but certainly not the least, the Duke and the King sell Jim. Huck is extremely hurt when he finds out what they have done to Jim, Huck even begins to cry. This shows the powerful connection of the relationship Huck and Jim really had.

In a true friendship, no matter how long it has been or who it is with, there has always been some internal trust within. For example , Jim notices how the Duke and the King were acting and didn’t think it was appropriate behavior for a king and a duke. Jim tells Huck what he believes about the two men and calls them ‘rapscallions’ . This shows how Jim cares for Huck, more than just a person or a child, but as a friend. ‘ “But, Huck,dese kings ourn is reglar rapscallions ; dat’s jist what dey is ; dey is reglar rapscallions.”’ Shortly after, Jim says he was reminded of his daughter Lizabeth , when he heard a huge smack somewhere . He tells Huck what he did to her and how he regrets doing so. ‘ “ She never budge! Oh, Huck, I bust out a-cryin’ en grab her up in my arms ,en say, ‘ Oh, de po!’ little thing! De Lord God amighty forgive po’ ole Jim, kaze he never
