1. Assess the types of changes and new developments in technology and government regulations that should be considered in long-range planning requirements for updating or replacing a HRIS. The types of changes and new developments in technology and government regulations that should be considered in long-range planning requirements for updating or replacing a HRIS is how it will increase a company’s administrative efficiency and/or obtain compliance support. What must also be considered is how the new HRIS will maintain organizational attention, address complexities associated with people management and managing user acceptance of the change associated with the new system. A system in my organization HRIS that could be improved is how we log our time sheets for the payroll process. Although some very positive changes have already been made, the process could be simplified more by allowing employees to update their time sheets from work or home with any code that is needed. Currently there are some codes that can only be entered by management. If your supervisor is out of the office, there is usually difficulty locating a supervisor (even a buddy supervisor) that has the free time to do it for you. Comparing where the system is now with limited input access to employees and where it is going which would allow employees to enter their own information, time would be freed up for management to focus on other projects and there would be less payroll hold ups if and employees manager is out of the office. With less payroll hold ups, this would also decrease the amount of inbound calls going into the payroll department due to paychecks being incorrect. Allowing employees to enter in their own information leaves only the task of the timesheet being approved by management.
