HOW TO WRITE A PARAGRAPH

SEES METHOD

Organise your paragraphs so that your response is both well written and linked to the question (by linking to the verb and content).

|1. Statement |Begin with a one sentence statement that rephrases the part of|
| |the question that you are addressing in the paragraph and very|
| |briefly suggests how the paragraph will address the question. |
|2. Expand/Explanation |Follow up the opening statement with a detailed explanation of|
| |the statement. During the explanation you should be making |
| |links to the part of the question you are answering (use the |
| |words from the question). |
|3. Evidence/Examples |As you are explaining, every point that you make should be |
| |supported with evidence/examples (where possible) to |
| |prove/illustrate your point. |
|4. Sum up |At the end of your paragraph you should sum up the point you |
| |have made by making a concluding statement that refers to the |
| |words from the part of the question that you are answering in |
| |relation to the verb. This should be done in one short |
| |sentence. |
