Here are five programming languages from the 1970s; DiBol, Pascal, PL-11, Intercal, and PL/M. DiBOL (Digital Business Oriented Language) is a general purpose, procedural imperative programming language. It is suited for MIS software development. It was developed by DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation). Pascal is an influential imperative and procedural programming language created by Niklaus Wirth. This was created to encourage good programming practices using structured programming and data structuring. It was named in honor of a French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal. It is strong typing one type of data cannot be converted or interpreted as another without explicit conversion. PL-11 created by R.D. Russell it is part of Omega programming language. It was later ported to IBM 370/168. The Intercal is an Esoteric programming language created as a parody. It was created by Don Woods and James M. Lyon. The PL/M is a language for microcomputers. It was created by Gary Kildall for Intel’s microprocessors. Low-level hardware specific to the target microprocessors, direct access to any location in memory. I/O ports and the processor interrupt flags in a very efficient manner. First higher level programming language based computers and original implementation language.
Five popular programs in the 1980s are CHILL, ADA, MATLAB, Eiffel, and Erlang. CHILL (CCITT High Level Language). This program is a procedural programming language for telecommunication switches it is the hardware used inside telephone exchange. ADA is a structured, statically typed imperative wide-spectrum, object-oriented high-level built in language. It supports explicit concurrency and was created by Jean-Ichbiah of CII Honeywell Bull under contract with the DOD to supersede the hundreds of programming languages then used by the DOD. ADA is named after Ada Lovelace who is considered the first computer programming (1815-1852) and it is embedded and real-time.
