Heroes Essay The question remains: who is worthy to be called a hero? I have seen many people who deserve the title of a hero for many bold actions. Sure, they do not wear legendary costumes, drive bat-mobiles or possess superhuman abilities. Of course, there is much more to a hero than just what is visible to the eye. As a matter of fact, it is all about what is on the inside—the qualities and behavior fixed in a mentality. That is why self-obsessed people do not make it on the list of heroes since their mind tends to think only about one’s self. In today’s era, the people who are marked as heroes are acknowledged because they achieved something for the good of others. Looking back to an earlier time in my life, I cannot remember a time She sacrificed everything for our benefit and never did she complain. She’s the one who brought us into America with hopes for a brighter future for us. Though she knew she’d lose her career when she moved to the United States, she did not hesitate. Even today, she stays loyal to us and our needs, putting them first before her own. The inside beauty of my mother makes other people just stop and stare, admiring the true definition of a hero. All in all, heroes do not necessarily have to be superhuman with unrealistic costumes or true legends. They are simply the people who look to positively change the environment by making heroic qualities stand out. A hero cannot be selfish, disloyal or idle. In fact, a hero is the absolute opposite. In the previous paragraph, I mentioned that a hero is one to stand up for what is right, to take action and to sacrifice everything for the good of others. I believe that this is the key definition of a true hero. Again, foster parents are not heroes for their selfish acts, idle motivation or betrayal. No, their heroism comes from the fact that they take children under their wing to give them the comfort, love and support. Generally speaking, they treat the kids as if they were the flesh of their flesh and give them the love each child seeks. Similarly, doctors and soldiers remain loyal to their duty, sacrifice their time and are completely selfless. All of these figures of heroes

Jessica Gee 11/1/12 English 11 The Scarlet Letter: Essay 1 In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, there are many heroes. Many acts of courage and loyalty were done in the novel, and there are four main people who I think are the heroes in the story. Hester Prynne is the main hero since she is so loyal and Dimmesdale is a hero for his because of his bravery. Lastly, Chillingworth is the tragic hero of the story in my opinion. The villain to me was the Puritan society as a whole. All of…
