I believe that strict gun laws should be passed in regards to purchasing or owning and rifle or handgun. I have a very negative view on the subject with a lot of evidence to back me up. The use of guns causes the most deaths in the U.S alone and should be made illegal to own. According to James D. Agresti and Reid K. Smith of Just Facts, Roughly 16,272 murders were committed in the United States during 2008. Of these, about 10,886 or 67% were committed with firearms. I feel that a world without weapons would be much more peaceful and the lives of innocent people won’t be at risk anymore so they should ban the ownership of guns.
Guns should only be permitted to the military or government officials that will use them to protect the people of the U.S. The current wars over seas require the use of guns and for the sake of protecting us they are used for the better good. Not for fun a shooting ranges or to carry around everywhere you go. Based on production data from firearm manufacturers, there are roughly 300 million firearms owned by civilians in the United States as of 2010. Of these, about 100 million are handguns. Weapons of this destruction should be limited to certain personal that could be put to use for the sake and protection of people.Gun laws should be strict with the concern of the people that own or consider purchasing one. I believe that if you have a mental illness, or certain disabilities, weather it is you or a member of your immediate family living within your home, you should be restricted from acquiring guns. According to The National Institute Of Mental Health, An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older, or about one in four adults, suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. And according to abcnews Nearly 2 million teens, or 8 percent of the adolescent population, experienced a major depressive episode in the past year. Although Only 5% of gun crimes were linked with serious mental ill people, the number grows stronger each year and it could still save countless lives.

In most recent interviews and study’s, current weapon possessors claim they have every right to own a gun based of the debatable seconded amendment stating “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” This right may be put in power but back then this wouldn’t be as much as a problem as it is today.
