Group Analysis
When it was announced that we would need to form a group presentation, and we need to group our self into five each groups. There were five of us sitting close together. We immediately looked at each other and we form a group. We seemed to be matching each other in our group. On the first day of our meeting we ask emails address and phone numbers of each members of my group. My group members were Leslie, Laura, Allison and Lori.
In, chapter 9 from the book, “communication principle from a lifetime” this is a very essential chapter for all members of a group to read and understand. Fortunately, my group members and I have not had a problem with getting along. I think we all have good personalities and we enjoy working with each other. The characteristics of our group allow us to be a successful group. There wasn’t any leader. It was up to you to get your own work done. We had meetings inside the classroom and we discussed about our topic and also we discuss about the PowerPoint that were going too used on our presentation. Working in a group it is important that you should show a moderate concern for both task and social relationship. You may also have to adjust some of your beliefs or ideas to fit the beliefs or ideas of another group member.
Next, I would like to talk about negotiation. I would define negotiation as giving and taking to reach a common goal, it’s a process by which a joint decision is made by two or more parties. After researching information for my group project and listening to another group’s presentation, it is evident that everyone thinks that negotiation is very important. There was a strong emphasis on avoiding conflict in the group presentations together, we had a good understanding, and it was very easy. As I mentioned earlier, we all worked very well together. Therefore, negotiating and getting along was not a difficult process for us.
Then, four days before our presentation we have a rehearsal at the library and everyone had to bring in their works. We gave feedback to each one
