How do you feel about Global Warming? Is it real? What are the effects of it? How can we help stop or slow it down? In this paper I am going to explain how global warming has a direct effect on the modern. To start yes, global warming is very real. The effects are harmful and as you keep reading this paper you will find what has happened because of it. One way we can slow it down is the Green Movement. The Green Movement is when Recycling, The Clean Water Act, Federal Pesticides Act, The Clean Air Act, The Endangered Species Act, and The National Scenic Trails Act, were signed in the law. Now a day these acts are highly used. About 1980, when Ronald Reagan was elected president, the dismantling of environmental safeguards had begun. Reagan and the whole Republican Party signaled their naked contempt for the Green Movement. (1) The Green Movement has always been there but has just got bigger these past years because of global warming. Recycling is also a known thing around the world as well recycling one Aluminum can saves around enough to have your television on for 3 hours.(2) A tin can will allow you to have 60-wattt light bulb run for approximately a whole day. Recycling paper can save about 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill space; 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water every 2,000 pounds that are recycled. Another example is plastic, recycling plastic, when you recycle plastic it can save twice as much energy as it would if you burned it in an incinerator. It would take 70% less energy to recycle plastics than it does to make raw materials. As you can see recycling can be a huge help with global warming. Next time drink a soda; think twice before just throwing it in the trash. Recycle it. Recycling has changed dramatically over the past 10 years. This is due to technology advancing so fast over the past few years (3). The Nature Conservancy is inspiring and galvanizing global climate action. The conservancy believes we need to take action, today. By protecting nature we can improve lives and make a solution for a change for the planet. With global warming getting worse we are witnessing endangered species dying off faster than usual. Endangered species are becoming more frequent than they should be. According to NCPA (National Center for Policy Animals), The Endangered Species Act, which was passed in 1973, is doing the opposite of what it originally was designed for. The Endangered Species Act was for recovering species to a state where they are no longer considered endangered. The unfortunate thing is that for many species it did the exact opposite. For example if you are a landowner of an enormous amount of land and the ESA find endangered species on your land or property you will be penalized. With that said most land owners with large amounts of land usually rid the animals that are possibly there and considered endangered rather than having the possibility of being penalized. Another nature conservancy that is a big one with global warming is clean water. According to the article I read from “The Nature Conservancy”, less than 1% of the water on our planet is available fresh water. It also reported that half of the world’s 500 most important rivers water sources for people around the world are being intensely depleted or polluted. Due to all the polluting, 40 percent of rivers in the U.S are too polluted from fishing and swimming. The Nature Conservancy partners with people in all 50 states, and in 30 countries to help protect our water sources. They do so by preventing deforestation and destruction of grasslands. Restore Forest and grasslands that have been damaged. Equip farmers with ways to keep out harmful run-off water. Restore flood plains that sponge and send water underground, and create new science that helps pinpoint the biggest threats to our water. One of the most significant symptoms of global warming
