Reality of Global Warming In today's world, what do we truly care about and truly rely on? Would you say family, money, Earth? I'm sure most people would agree because without any of these valuables there would be no rational way of living. Now I don't believe there is current global warming, but if people continue to take Earth for granted and keep polluting and depleting the atmosphere, that is protecting us, then global warming is just a matter of time. My theory of global warming is not the usual theory. Earth has cycles in its seasonal time zones. The cycles changing from extreme heat to extreme cold i.e. winter, summer, spring, and fall. Scientists discovered in "1824" that we "have been releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. Called greenhouse gases, their levels are higher now than in the last 650,000 years" (1). ". . . Due to several human activities, a new set of greenhouse gases have been added to the atmosphere. These are hydrofluorocarbons, sulfur hexafluoride, chlorofluorocarbons and perfluorocarbons" (2). These gases are caused by factories and industrial processes. They have caused the temperatures to go beyond the extreme heat point in the summer therefore causing more glaciers than normal to melt; thus causing the water levels to rise, drying out crops, disturbing wildlife, and causing weather changes. This is referred to as global warming. With time these affects will begin to increases little by little and we will start to see the dramatic changes global warming can cause. If water levels flourish too much what will happen to Galveston, Hawaii, and many other islands and continents? What will happen if all crops, fruit, and vegetables can't grow because they shrivel up from heat, flood from the water levels, or can only grow in a cool condition? We will be limited on locations to stay, items to eat, and maybe transportation if random floods appear. These are all concerns that I have with global warming and others should think about. Once again I don't believe it is currently happening or will occur in our lifetime, but global warming will most likely show up in the future. We need to get people aware of global climate change and greenhouse gases, and on the right path to protecting the future as time proceeds. Others may think global warming is a myth and "oh I don't need to worry about it", but what happens to your kids in the next generation and their kids? It is something to think about because we can't go on like this forever. We need
