In “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles proclaim that “marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children. God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1:27–28). Marriage is part of the central Plan of our Heavenly Father. He has given us the opportunity to participate of it. “Marriage is the foundry for social order, the fountain of virtue, and the foundation for eternal exaltation. Marriage has been divinely designated as an eternal and everlasting covenant. Marriage is sanctified when it is cherished and honored in holiness. That union is not merely between husband and wife; it embraces a partnership with God.” (Russell M. Nelson)
Changes in the civil law do not change the moral law that God has established. God expects us to uphold and keep His commandments regardless of different opinions or trends in society. He has made it really clear regarding the commandments, marriage between a man and woman. His commandments were given since the creation of the world. Indeed the world changes, but the commandments have not change; the true nature of the family will never change. This commandment was given clear in the law of chastity: sexual relations are proper only between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully wedded as husband and wife. (Preparing for an Eternal Marriage Teacher Manual)
Many believers of same-sex marriage argue that traditional standards of sexual morality have changed and that “acceptance” requires that these new standards be recognized and systemized in the law. God has commanded us to love the sinner but not the sin; we can’t accept or tolerate this behavior because society and values are changing. Elder Dalling H. Oaks advises: “Tolerance does not require abandoning one’s standards or one’s opinions on political or public policy choices. Tolerance is a way of reacting to diversity, not a command to insulate it from examination.” We were created as the image of God and “Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.” (The Family: A Proclamation to the World). Gender defines us, gives us opportunity to grow and become like our Heavenly Parents with out this essential part the whole plan would be destroyed, the whole purpose of coming to earth will be defied.
Marriage is more than a contract between individuals to confirm their love and provide for mutual obligations. Throughout times, governments have recognized marriage as essential in conserving social stability, regardless of ethnicity, religion or
GAY MARRIAGE Ask just about anyone. They will all tell you they're in favor of equal rights for homosexuals. Just name the situation, and ask. Nearly seventy percent of people in the U.S. oppose gay marriage, almost the same proportion as are otherwise supportive of gay rights.…

\ The Fight for Same-Sex Marriage Same-sex marriage is one of the most pressing issues facing state governments in America today. It polarizes people all over the country mainly because it touches not only on a political level, but also on a moral level. In a society where all men are created equal the question is why there are inequalities between people due to their choice of sexuality. It would be beneficial for state governments, not only economically, but also socially to make…
to see the current example of this? The issue of gay marriage. A touchy subject by nature, this topic is one of the few issues that has been going on since perhaps the creation of man. On one side, you have the conservative, traditional group who despises the very idea of same sex marriage for many reasons. Against them we have those who welcome any sort of “taboo” way of life due to their interpretation of the constitution. The issue of gay marriage is a sensitive topic that causes us to challenge…
