Ford “In 1903 with $28,000 in cash, Henry Ford started the Ford Motor Company, whose automobiles changes how the world moved.” Ford motor company is an American automaker and it is currently the world’s third largest automaker being based out of Dearborn, Michigan. The company was founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903. During its early years, the company manufactured many vehicles in a short amount of time. Because of this, Ford motor company would go on to become one of the largest and most profitable companies of all time. Ford motor company even actually survived the Great Depression. Ford now includes two separate sectors of their company, Ford and Lincoln. At one point in time there were many other sectors that Ford owned: Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Mercury, but he later sold those sectors off. This company was the largest family-controlled company in the world and has continually been growing for 110 years. The mission statement of Ford Motor Company is that they are “focused on creating a strong business that builds great products that contribute to a better world.” Ford’s marketing plan is currently leading the most ambitious transformation in today’s business world. Although they have 18% market share which is similar to their other competitors, Toyota has 12.6%, Chrysler has 10.5% and Honda has 9.7%, GM is dominating over them with 20% and they are working to change that. Ford’s target market is very large. Although they look for an older age group, they focus on families, business owners. They are working to create “more contemporary automotive company by marketing their brands as culturally and emotionally relevant to the evolving tech savvy universe.” They focus their efforts on delivering excellence allowing their customers to drive “high quality, green, safe and smart vehicles using state-of-the-art technology.”They continue to introduce new products and enter higher level markets. Ford Motor cars are setting targets to become the overall best motor company out there. Every day Ford is working to make their products better for all of their customers. Out of the many automobiles within the market today, Ford has the best appeal to customers. Ford’s three newest cars include their 2013 Edge, their 2013 Explorer and the 2013 Escape. The 2013 Edge starts at $27,000 and has 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The 2013 Explorer starts at $29,100 and has 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Lastly, the 2013 Escape starts at $22,470 and has 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Each of these cars come in nine different color choices, and includes a 3.5L Twin-Independent Variable Cam Timing V6 engine, cloth trimmed seats, and single-zone manual air-conditioning. product is distributed mainly through dealers. The major benefits of this is that it is most commonly very accessible to customers locally and if not the car will be transferred for the specific customer. Ford provides help on their website in order for people to help locate a dealer. Customers do not have to worry about how the product is shipped or how the orders are handled because if the car they want is not available at their dealer Ford will take care of the expenses in getting it to that dealership. The promotional strategies that Ford has used for the cars listed above has changed over the last few years. Fords bold new strategy at first glance looks like a fund, raising a pitch from an environmentalist group, with one of the worst fuel efficiency records of any car company, Ford is trying to green.
