These pictures are all to do with racial segregation cases in the United States Supreme Court.
1.) The picture of the National Archives building – Destiny Pediment, is the U.S. Supreme Court building in Washington D.C. where all of these cases took place.
2.) The picture with the 12 on it stands for when the Civil Rights Act was passed. The Civil Rights Act was passed TWICE, which mandated an end to racial segregation in public accommodations. In 1875, the Civil Rights Act was struck down by the Supreme Court during the Civil Rights Cases ruling in 1883. It was finally passed in 1964.
3.) The picture with the number 14 I believe has to do with the court case Dred Scott vs. Sandford. Dred Scott was an African American slave that petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court for his freedom. They ruled the Bill of Rights did not apply to African Americans, so he lost his case, but when the 14th amendment came along, it made it the law.
4.) The picture with Louisiana Railroad on it, I believe to have to do with the Supreme Court case Plessy vs. Ferguson. It started out as the Plessy vs. The State of Louisiana case due to the Separate Car Act on the railroads. Plessy was taken off of the first class car, that he paid to be on, and forced into a blacks-only car. Going to the U.S. Supreme Court, he argued that his rights under the 13th and 14th amendment were violated. Plessy lost due to the court ruling no rights were violated,
Diaz 1 Sarah Diaz Mr. Odegaard English 101 March 2, 2015 Parenthood In the story "Flight Patterns", Sherman Alexie unravels a man's mindset and showcases his new appreciation for his life. William, a husband and father, encounters a taxi driver named Fekadu on his way to one of his many business trips. Approaching the airport, they begin to have a deep conversation in which they openly share about their families. Fekadu then enlightens William with his unfortunate circumstances causing him to reexamine his life…
Starting my pilot training, I had to complete ground school before I was allowed to have actual flight time. Our materials covered weather patterns, airman laws, flight minimums, aerodynamics, and radio communications. Radio communications by far was the hardest subject. A pilot has to communicate every move they intend to do. Holding at an intersection, crossing an active runway, every turn in a flight pattern! I thought this subject was impossible to learn. My instructor told me to take it step by step…
1 Whitehead Ethan Whitehead Mrs. Ighade English 102006 6 April 2015 Word Count: 822 Prejudice in Post 9/11 America In Sherman Alexie’s “Flight Patterns”, A common place cab ride is transformed into a deep, thoughtful, and eye opening perspective on how racial prejudice has affected the lives of two ordinary men, William and Fekadu. The common theme of racism is represented in both of their series of stories, as well as the negative impacts they have had on the two men. Post 9/11…
disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle during a routine training mission named flight 19. Different from most accounts of Flight 19, it was not a patrol but a training flight. The men would leave Fort Lauderdale and fly a course of 091 degrees for 56 miles, then practice low-level bombing at Hens and Chicken Shoals. Afterward, they would continue on the same course another 67 miles to complete the first leg. The second leg of the flight would take them 73 miles northwest, on a heading of 346 degrees. Finally…
Committee for Research and Exploration of the National Geographic Society. The chicken sized dinosaurs color patterns were discovered after researchers used a scanning electron microscope. Pigment samples were taken from fossil feathers all over a specimen and then compared the samples to pigment from modern birds. Paleontologist Li Quanguo and Jacobo Vinter a graduate student, found a complicated pattern of reddish blown, black, grey, and white feathers covering a fossil dinosaur which lead to the speculation…

Intro to Aviation Flight report On Tuesday of the sixth week this quarter, with excitement, I went up to the airport, and got ready for my first time “pilot” experience. As soon as I got there, I met my flight instructor, and started the paperwork. After that, I got my headset and head to the plane I was about to flight. From there, we started the pre-flight. First, my flight instructor and I walked around the airplane, he introduce to me…
which causes the immune system to function improperly because resources are tied up in activating the fight or flight mechanism. Others argue that depression causes stress, which then causes the fight or flight. And yet there are other groups that argue a person’s psychological state causes the individual to indirectly affect their health by bad nutrition, physical, and sleep patterns (eg. Having bad nutritional habits could starve the body of necessary nutrients to maintain high levels of white…
travelling abroad depends on the economy, but still in a large number of people emigrate and immigrate between foreign countries. It navigates the international airline early in the Japanese megacarrier, but it is difficult at all to cover all the flight to the world only in one company because the world is very large. Therefore the airline of all the countries of the world forms a big airline alliance by cooperating each other. And “global alliance” means this. In global alliance, there is “sky team”…
given rude and unprofessional customer service and I was completely unhappy while being served. Reservation Experience? The reservation experience was terrible. I had to fill out the same form three times for my flight, and I was still given the incorrect choices. In Flight Meals? My in flight meal was not even consumed. I am remarkably upset for I was given food that I was allergic to, evn after I explained the situation to the attendant. Customer Loyalty Program? Are you a member of our 'FlyMore'…
