Mutual Funds 1. ProFunds Biotechnology UltraSector Svc- I chose Profunds Biotechnology first of all because it’s in the health category and it has a five star morning star rating. . The fund invests in securities and derivatives that the adviser believes, in combination, should have similar daily return characteristics as one and one-half times (1.5x) the daily return of the Dow Jones U.S. BiotechnologySM Index. The health sector is growing and BIPSX has had 120.48% increase in stock price in the last five years. It is a no load fund. “The lead manager Hratch Najarian has been an associate portfolio manager with ProFund Advisors since 2004. Previously, he worked as a portfolio analyst for ProFund Advisors from 2003 to 2004, junior analyst from 2002 to 2003 and institutional client services representative from 2000 to 2002.” He is highly experienced. The fund has been up more years than it has been down. Some of its top holdings are; Amgen Inc., Gilead Sciences, Inc., Biogen Idec Inc and Celgene Corporation. Its P/E ratio (20.58) is higher than the average category P/E ratio (16.72). 2. MassMutual Select Growth Opportunities N- I chose this because it is a large growth fund and has a 5 star morning star rating. The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests primarily in equity securities of U.S. companies. Its top holdings include Apple Inc., Visa Inc. and Google Inc. Its average P/E ratio (19.10%) is greater than its category average P/E ratio. It has been up 8 Years and down for just 2 years. “Frank M. Sands, Jr, CFA the lead manager has been Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer at Sands Capital Management since 2008. Mr. Sands, Jr. has previously held the positions of President, Director of Research and Senior Portfolio Manager with Sands Capital Management since joining Sands Capital Management in June 2000. Before joining Sands Capital Management, he was a Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager, and Principal at Fayez Sarofim & Co. from August 1994 to June 2000. Frank M.
