Life of Vocation

To me the Life of Vocation means dedication, participation, responsibility, and leadership. It involves principle and morals that are taught to you by your parents, teachers, and other adults in your life, as well as the morals and skills you develop on your own. Vocation comes from the Latin word “voca” meaning “to call.” I think that this relates to answering God’s call to serve one another. Through the lunch programs, Legati, and my participation in service projects, I feel that I have grown significantly in this particular Life of and, “developed a commitment to service, especially the poor.”
During my first tear at Saint Patrick Catholic School, I was assigned a pre-k lunch buddy. My job was to make sure she ate, and was happy. To do this I had to dedicate parts of my lunch time to take her to the bathroom, cut up her food, and help with tasks she could not do on her own. It was a great way to practice responsibility, and dedication. At the end of the nine weeks, I found that because of what I had to do for my Pre-K buddy I had become a better server at the table.
This year I decide to sign up for Legati. Legati helped me answer my call to servant leadership, and develop my public speaking skills. To be apart of Legati you must be dedicated, and willing to talk about the school, and be honest about what you say. As a member of legati you speak for the school and the students, when you describe each life of. After a snapshot I participated in I was informed that one of the parents on the particular snapshot was very impressed, especially with my presentation. He wanted to congratulate me on doing a good job, and wanted to tell me to continue speaking, because it was something that he believed I could do well, and would “take me places.”
