MODULE SELF REFLECTION
From the e-activity of week 2 to the end of the module, there are lots of knowledge gathered. The 4Cs described by Cook as the classification of social media software as means of formality through connection and collaboration and being interactive through communication and cooperation. This has provided me with the knowledge that social media is just a platform for interacting social but also can be used to for other purposes such as teaching, organising an event, reaching out to a wider audience for shared knowledge and also for political purposes.
The module has taught me how to analyse a company usage of social networking sites in terms of customer services, brand awareness, competition and sharing ideas with a wider audience in improving an existing a product or service or/and to develop new product or/and services. It has made me understand that companies uses twitter as a platform for customer services and promoting products or services because it is a real time application and the rise of twitter users is increasing rapidly. Working in a team to achieve a common goal by exploring and evaluating different social media application for an organisation gave me a better understanding that some social media application might serve good for an organisation, or/and might be bad for another organisation. For an organisation to utilise social media applications efficiently and effectively, it needs to identify its target market firstly. Then organisations should look at the risks involved in the use of social media, the knowledge gathered is that social media has social, technological and ethical risks in the use of social media apart from time consuming. To control or eliminate these risks, the organisation needs to put in place a policy which will protect the use of social media in the work place and also protects the employees and audience from its usage. The module made me understand that social media can be measured in terms of ROI.
The best feature of the module is the knowledge gathered from the lecture and seminar of using mashups application to make personal movies and music album, because at the start of the week 2 e-activity, I had no idea of mashups but now I am using it to make personal movies and also clips of my personal picture albums which I do share either on my facebook page or on YouTube. The worst feature is the RSS which I do not still have the knowledge because I do not have the understanding of creating or what it is all about. There was not enough explanation about this particular feature and not much time to research on it.
The module has made me understand that with the use of social media in businesses, it will definitely influence the way business is done because there will be low capital intensity and an increased in customer intimacy. It will

than ever before” (Adam Acar, 2008). Media technology has become a diffusion of innovations with the advance of the internet. In fact, I have become a “victim” of communicating with individuals via blogs, social networks, instant messages and email. Since engaging in this behavior, I have taken for granted how these technologies expedite our interpersonal communication. For better or for worse, I rely heavily on computer-mediated communication. Email, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Delicious…
