Ethics Plays a Major Role in Security

Abstract
Ethic’s is the beliefs in way’s things should be run. Way’s society should conduct business or how one should handle him or herself in his or her everyday life. David Resnik states “Most people learn ethical norms at home, at school, in church, or in other society settings” (Resnik, D, 2011, p. 1). Resnik goes on to explain “Most societies also have legal rules that govern behavior, but ethical norms tent to be broader and more informal than laws” (Resnik, D, 2011, p. 1). Keep in mind security professionals have his or her codes in which the company provides them. Following the code of ethic’s placed by the company, and his or her own ethics each security professional will be able to maintain order when needed. Resnik points to a very important fact we must remember “Although most societies use laws to enforce widely accepted moral standards and ethical and legal rules use similar concepts, it is important to remember the ethics and law are not the same” (Resnik, D, 2011, p. 1).

Examine the importance of ethics in Security Deciding to work in the security field it is highly important to know the companies Codes of Ethics, what was expected of him or her as a security professional. With the ever changing population, and the potential threats our country sees. Each security professional trained in the aspects on how to deal with potential threats to his or her company. In doing this he or she must maintain composure, integrity, leadership values and ethics in which the company has asked him or her too. Dr. Arvind Gupta and Lal Bahadur Shastri Char explained in the article “Global security and the role of ethics and values.” They discuss “the concept of security has undergone sea change state security is no longer the only issue, human security, the concern for the individual, communities, local habits, ecosystems” (Gupat, A, Chair, L, 2008, p. 1). Security has an important job, and it does not matter the location. Security is there to uphold the safety of the grounds and protect the guest. Never take it for granted that everything is needed to make a little note in a little book. Ethics plays a large role in Security and ensuring the team of these goals and keeping them on track to help his or her clients and property is protected as requested.
Traditional Theories and Key Areas for Major Concern
Traditional theories in security vary in many ways and security must follow a strict code of ethics. Ethics plays a major role in the traditional theories in the security field and how they do their jobs. Areas of concern are plenty when it comes to security and there expectations in general. “Traditional theories continue to be adopted but are evolving to help better fit the needs of diversity. The different concepts help to encourage ethics and the study of morals between individuals and the environment. The moral theory is another that connects actions to that which is either right or wrong. Ethics is an important study for guiding and improving actions and reactions to others and the environment. Traditional ethical concepts are becoming more diverse, and examples of ‘right and wrong’ have broadened and provide helpful assistance to interested members of business everywhere. Traditional ethics is opening doors such as diversifying and implementing innovative change in a positive manner to promote better reactions in all communities.”(, 2009-2012).” Dealing with ethics and major concerns in security we must first understand what ethics means and how it relates to security. “A security professional is faced with ethical dilemmas every day.
