Creative thinking

How might you use the strategies for applying creativity to problems and issues in addressing this topic?

I think if you just mention the words gun control you get people’s attention. One of the tactics I would use to apply creativity to problems and issues is the consequences. If you were to shoot someone in the arm then you should face the same consequences. People would read this and right away think you are violating their rights. You would have to pass a law to make this stand up in court. The next thing is you have to get the law changed to be stricter and be aggressive. If you get congress to pass a law that if you kill someone with a gun then you will be killed by a firing squad if you were proving guilty for first degree murder you would get some creativity to the problem. What we here today is the same old government saying we need stricter laws. The background checks have to be more extensive. What we need to hear from the government is that they are funding a program that will go and check the safety of all people that have registered firearms. The government can go into your house and check to make sure you still have the gun and it is kept in a safe place. The Government should pass a bill that gives free gun safety training for all registered gun owners. They could teach people how to safely keep their guns in the house and when to properly pull them out to use them for protection. Making simple suggestions will apply creativity to problems and issues.

Many people don’t understand the facts about gun control so they go off what other people say about it. I encourage all my readers to gun to meetings on this subject and ask questions. Many people think they would be made fun of so they don’t like to ask questions. Did you know that 40% of Americans own guns? Our country has always been gun lovers. I was surprised to see that most surveys before the Columbine shooting supported stricter gun laws. After the shootings it went down from 57% to 51%. Why would you think after a tragedy do you think it went down? It would have to peak your curiosity to find out why people would change their mind after a tragedy. I think many of us would assume it means that people want to have less strict laws so they can protect themselves. I look at people and try to understand what can change their minds and would have to go to the second amendment which says “We have the rights to bear arms”. “According to the
