Introduction : Geothermal energy is a kind of energy stored in the outer shell of solid earth. It’s clean, sustainable, endless and environmentally friendly. This thermal energy is contained in the rock and fluids beneath Earth's crust. It can be found from shallow ground to several miles below the surface, and even farther down to the extremely hot molten rock called magma. Geothermal energy is used in many applications ,such as ( to produce electricity, heat buildings, greenhouses, for industrial and other purposes ). Earth contains in its interior ,a furnace containing a high temperature up to 4200 ° C .
Earth is composed of several layers and is from the inside out: 1. consists earth nucleus of two layers: Interior is a core of solid iron and external Therefore, if one digs 20,000 feet the temperature will be about 1900C above the surface temperature. This difference will be enough to produce electricity. However, no useful and economical technology has been developed to extracted this large source of energy. • Hot Dry Rock: This type of condition exists in 5% of the US. It is similar to Normal Geothermal Gradient, but the gradient is 400C/km dug underground. • Molten Magma: No technology exists to tap into the heat reserves stored in magma. The best sources for this in the US are in Alaska and Hawaii.
USES OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY:
1) Direct Use and District Heating Systems which use hot water from springs or reservoirs near the surface.
2) Electricity generation in a power plant requires water or steam at very high temperature (300 to 700 degrees Fahrenheit). Geothermal power plants are generally built where geothermal reservoirs are located within a mile or two of the surface.
3) Geothermal heat pumps use stable ground or water temperatures near the earth's surface to control building temperatures above
F-Unit A-Unit Diesel Engine Set OPERATOR’S MANUAL Compatibility This locomotive is capable of operating with DC or AC power supplies (See page 29 for a complete list of compatible transformers and wiring instructions.) indoors or outdoors. MTH does not recommend operating the locomotive in inclement weather and strongly suggests that it not be left out in the elements. The locomotive will negotiate a R1 GGauge track. Additional features may be utilized when controlling the engine with…
Geothermal Energy Geothermal energy is a renewable thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth. It is created by releasing the naturally formed steam, hot water, and stable ground temperature found in the Earth. Geothermal energy is the process of harnessing the heat that is coming out of the earth for the creation of electricity. In areas where there is hot ground water, holes are drilled into the earth. The water or steam comes up then it flows to turbines that turn to create electricity…
Stephanie Rocha (69208562) Word Count: 1,583 E8- Environmental Analysis and Design Take Home Essay Final Sustainable World A large issue that has been raised to my attention is if my world is sustainable. Day by day, we become closer to reaching a point of breaking, a limit to our resources and needs that we seem to overexploit and take advantage of for our own greedy needs. We are aware of the impact we are making on our life support, and thankfully efforts are being made to reverse…

Tragedy of the Commons: an essay written by Garret Hardin explaining that a resource held in common that is accessible to all and is unregulated will eventually become overused and degraded. He argued it was in our best interest to develop guidelines for the use of such resources. 2. Design an Experiment (skip) 3. Nitrogen cycle: -nitrogen fixation: nitrogen gas (N₂) must be “fixed”, or combined win hydrogen in nature to form ammonia (NH₃), (accomplished in 2 ways: intense energy of lightening or when…
been urbanised, with the fastest rate of change in Africa. There are the downsides like overcrowding, pollution, social deprivation, crime, and stress-related illnesses. The rapid urbanisation has caused a lot of health problems to people. First, the essay will look at the reasons urbanisation is happening. Then, the researcher will provide specific examples of health problems caused by urbanisation. Subsequently, the possible solutions will be given. Finally, there will be a discussion of the feasibility…
