The Brady Bill
President Clinton signed this bill into law on November 30, 1993 and it went into effect February 28, 1994. The bill was named after James Brady, who was shot during an assassination attempt on President Reagan. The Brady Bill is a handgun control bill and requires a prospective handgun buyer to wait 5 business days for a background check to which the sale is either accepted or denied.
Apple
Though Apple has been around since 1976, Apple’s sales really didn’t take off until the invention of the IMac computer in 1998, followed by Ipod, and Itunes cementing it’s place in the entertainment/technological world.
Cell Phones
Though the cell phone was invented in the earlier eighties, the technology for cell phones became greatly improved in the nineties and was geared more towards convenience and consumer friendly as well s affordability. These improvements alone allowed for cellphones to take off.
The Internet and the World Wide Web
The Internet and the world wide web were both invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989. By the end of 1990, the first web page was served. By 1993, the world wide web technology became available for everyone to use. Today, it is one of the most accessible forms of communication.
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
President Clinton signed this policy into law on October 1, 1993. This law directed military personnel to not ask about a person’s sexual orientation and lifted the ban on homosexual service.
Telecommunications
The Telecommunications Act of 1996 was designed to allow anyone enter into the
