Influence the Larger Context Memo

STATE THE ACTIVITY:
School newsletter for the school community to update them on what’s happening at the school.
Reading and Math corner section is in the newsletter to help parents at home with students.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY:
I help create a school newsletter to distribute monthly for the school community to update them on what’s happening at the school. This year the school was trying to improve parental and community involvement and this was one way to let people know what we are accomplishing throughout the school year. The team also gathers several strategies and tools that parents can use at home for reading and math.

EXPLANATION OF WHAT YOU LEARNED:
I learned that often times, parents want to help their children, but they just do not know how. It is vital for us to give them strategies and tips for working with students at home. This can be done via phone calls, newsletters, face to face meetings, literacy nights, etc… Working together as a team can really enable us to gather more ideas and strategies that we can share with parents. The lesson that I learned from all of this is that when great minds work together, a lot more can be accomplished.

As an administrator, I will work to create more parent education sessions. I will have a parent resource team to develop
