Describe features of inclusive teaching and learning.

Inclusive learning is described as students with special educational needs that are incorporated in the classroom. The objective of inclusion is based on the idea that every student has the right to belong and be included in a learning environment. An inclusive approach in teaching helps to ensure students have the chance to learn to the best of there ability. Students then feel a more of a sense of belonging and not a student with a disability, ability social/cultural charistics creating an environment where students are valued and in turn learn to value others in the same manner, Examples of this could be ensuring that notes and handouts for sessions maybe available in advance electronically, giving clear visual and verbal instruction to learner.

It is important because if someone doesn’t feel included this could affect their capacity to learn, Maslows’ hierarchy of needs states that:
‘According to Maslow, humans need to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance among their social groups, regardless if these groups are large or small’.
This is the third level of human needs, according to Maslow this need must be met in order for level 4 (self-esteem) and level 5 (self- actualisation) to be met. Through experiences both as a student and a mentor I have found the feeling of belonging and an equal to every other student on a course of study. I was able as a mentor been able to forward any materials used for my students to they know what we were going to do on the day of the session
I have taught sessions whereby I as a mentor involved and including everyone in the session no matter of age and back group, a level playing ground. Looking at levels of interest and everyone has the chance to participle in a session.
Inclusive learning is about ensuring all your learners have the opportunity to be involved and included in the learning process. It’s also about treating all learners equally and fairly, without directly or indirectly excluding anyone. Inclusion is about attitudes as well as behavior, as learners can be affected by the words or actions of others. Inclusive teaching is not just about student achievement, it is also about helping students for future experiences employment, further education. It is not to lowering expectations and making work easy. It is about creative problem solving as well as creating opportunities to demonstrating what they have learnt.
1b Compare the Strengths and limitations of teaching and learning approaches using area of specialism.
As a mentor/tutor I have had to work with a wide range of students with individual needs, I have always arranged my students who have dyslexia like myself, with a heads up with lesson handouts on a different colored backgrounds, and then present the handouts to them on different colored paper. As a progression coach I had students with different learning styles, I found that my students have found that reading a power point can be monotonous and boring leaving learners de-motivated, leaving them to negative behavior especially for someone who learns better by the Kinesthetic approach. Kinesthetic meaning that many of my learners are doers and they need to be doing something actively doing something while learning. Often, those with a basically, it means that the learner needs to be actively doing something while learning. Often, those with a kinesthetic learning style are going to have a hard time learning during sedentary things like lectures because the body does not make the connection that they are doing something when they're listening. Much of the time, they need to get up and move to put something into memory. Students are going to have a hard time
