Part I

Complete the following using the MySocLab Social Explorer Map: Income Inequality by Race (located on the student website) as a reference:

Write a 150- to 300-word summary of the economic, social, and political standings of that group. Use additional resources if necessary, from the University Library or your textbooks. Provide citations for all the sources you use.
Over the past few decades the United States population has undergone a major demographic change as to where black Americans share of the United States population was 11.8% in 1990 and is projected to be 12.2% in 2010 Although the black population is projected to increase steadily over the next half of century it will likely not comprise more than 12% of the United States population by 2050. This is because the rapid growth of the Latino population which will nearly triple by 2050 and comprise roughly a third of the total United States population. The white population will remain unchanged over the next 40 years.(U.S.Census 2000). These changes make it tempting to shift the economic policy focus towards Latino’s as the biggest and fastest minority group in the United States, the Afro-American race still continue to face large disadvantages and challenges that make it difficult to move up ward.

What is racism? In what ways does racism affect diversity?
Racism is hatred or prejudice against a race or a group. Racism affects diversity because when you are racist you are divers you are always with your own race.

How do racial groups interact in contemporary America? Are interactions positive, negative, or neutral? Support your response using proper citations.
Racial groups usually get along with only others who share their race and beliefs. They seem to interact with other people. The best
