Declaration of Independence I, Michael Gillis, on this 6th day of May 2015, declare my Independence from homework for all concerned persons to read. It is sometimes necessary for a person to get rid of the force or forces controlling them. In addition, it is known that homework is to be expected in order to receive a good education in school. This meaning, every child for eleven to twelve years is supposed to make school a top priority so they can have a good future. I accept this, but every student should have the right to pursue other skills or activities that they might use later on in life. That being said, homework has caused a great problems in my day-to-day life such as.
Being excluded from recreational activities.
Having no excess time for leisurely activities such as reading. Enjoying time with family and or friends.
Fulfilling personal obligations to others.
Too much work.
Deadlines that are too short (for certain essays and other important projects). Although I have attempted to solve grievances in many ways such as starting the work in class or other classes, getting help from my parents or a tutor, and starting it immediately when I get home. Although I have tried these methods, many times I still find myself sitting at my dinner table until 6 or 7 p.m. doing arithmetic or copying definitions from my vocabulary book onto a sheet of white lined paper. Even though I could have, been doing chores, or enjoying my time reading, or watching Netflix. I
