Part 1: Introduction (due Week in Two)

a) Application Summary: I chose the Personal Music Library, were I will use a program and database manager to download and save all my music in alphabetical order so I have easy access to my music and I will be able to search by artist or song title.

b) Database Software: I will use a desktop database because I am the only user on this computer and the files I am saving is for my own personal use, I will also use Microsoft excel to make a listing of all my songs separately from my music folder which will have all my songs in alphabetical order by artist name. I am choosing the desktop database design because it is quick and easy to use and allows me to do everything I need to do.

c) Database Design Elements: I will have my music folder, my music player connected to one another so my music is in both places for play I will use excel to make a listing of all my music by artist name in alphabetical order that way I can search for a specific artist or song title without having to go through the entire list. My design will allow me to edit or change entries without having to make a new document.

Part 2: Database Design (due in Week Three)

a) Entities and Attributes: My entities are music titles, music by artist.
My attributes for these are albums, alphabetical order, total time of album length

Part 3: Relationships, Components, Features, and Requirements (due in Week Four)

a) Define what an ERD is and why it is important as a tool in the database design process. The ERD represents the conceptual database as viewed by the end user. ERDs depict the database’s main components: entities, attributes, and relationships. Because an entity represents a real-world object, the words entity and object are often used interchangeably.

b) Entity-Relationship Diagram

c) Components and Features: Well for my database features will be artist, song title, genre of music, and length of time for song.

Part 4: Queries and Forms (due in Week Five)

a) Queries: Artists by name, song title by name, a search feature by genre
