Acacia and the Thorny Rose Even as a young child, Acacia and her family suffered from poverty. Her parents tried their best to provide their children luxuries as long as they could afford it. Acacia, being the oldest, learned to take appreciation to these atypical treasures. Every time their parents their parents implied in asking the children what they wanted, they tried to get the most modern article of request if reasonable, and affordable. Acacia had a strong infatuation for running, despite the challenging obstacles of steep mountains, uneven ground, and the humid climate. She was one of the "greats" in running. To most people, Acacia came off as bitter and spiteful even though she smiled all the time. Acacia wasn’t a girl that most people would interact with. While being athletic, she was also scrawny, short, and wasn’t the prettiest girl in town. People taunted Acacia over these things, and not having the new fashion didn’t help either. Yet, Acacia allowed them bring her down even though she knew she was better than to do so. On one of those "special days" she received the top-of-line running shoes from her parents. For her, running was like an anti-depressant. Acacia would lace up her shoes and run off her troubles and worries. On one of these runs, Acacia fell and twisted her knee. She was in so much pain she began crying. She was too far away from home to hobble back, or yell for her parents. Hot tears streamed down her rosy cheeks and fell on her knee, then as suddenly as the pain began, it vanished. "What?!" Acacia cried in confusion. Her true personality came out when she cried, her fake smiles were dropped and the strong front she put up was gone.
