Abstract: On 27th August, we were pleasure to have a chance to visit a cruise ship which called Dawn Princess at Auckland port. It was a very interesting field trip, every students broadened their horizons and learn a lot of tourism knowledge. The main purpose of this report is to understand the manage skills about cruise ship and realize the organisational structure. In this report, I will describe the structure about the cruise ship, and explain the crew’s job description. At the same time, I will also discuss how quality is delivered from a crew perspective.

Introduction: The aim of the filed trip is to understand the structure of cruise ship, and analysis the management skills about the crew. On 27th August morning, our lecture took almost 80 students to Auckland port, when we got off the car, such a big cruise ship stood in our eyes. Looking at its body, we could find its name easily,“Dawn Princess”.“Dawn Princess is a Sun-class cruise ship built by Fincantieri, Italy, in 1997 and operated by Princess Cruises. The ship features eight restaurants, four swimming pools, five Jacuzzis, seven lounges and bars, and two children centres”(Wikipedia, 2014). The total tonnage of Dawn Princess is 77000-ton, 261m length of 837 feet, and it could carry 1950 passengers. Dawn Princess offers Australia/ New Zealand, South Pacific, Hawaii and world cruises. We entered the cruise ship at 11 am, after we came into the body, the amazing trip had began.

Articulate the organisational structure: At first, let me introduce the basic function. 1. Tourism and Transportation: The cruise ship takes charge of tourists from one point to another point of transportation, or round- trip voyage between destinations to complete a entertainment and leisure tourism sightseeing tour. This function is performed by cruise driving part, the engine department, the deck department. 2. Tour, leisure and vacation function: Cruise offers visitors to meet its tourism, leisure and other needs of services, including the organization of tourism activities, the design of product line and guided tours. At the same time, the cruise ship also supplies fitness facilities, recreation centers, discos, beauty salons, and casino. 3. Front office functions: Cruise has to provide access for tourists and as a lobby of the distribution center about cruise information, including the total station, luggage service, business center, cabin, service for tourist accommodation, restaurant dining ,and multi-purpose hall, etc. 4. Back-office functions: Expect in order to ensure the normal operation of cruise ship’s safety, and to ensure the comfort of tourists, the back-office function also provides
