STUDENT’S NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS APPEAR HERE

I have been given information about the ‘Critique of an organisation’s hiring process’ project and discussed the research project with student researcher/s name to be inserted here who is conducting this research as part of their postgraduate coursework degree supervised by Professor Mary Barrett in Sydney Business School, University of Wollongong.

I have been advised of the potential risks and burdens associated with this research, which include spending up to about an hour being interviewed. I understand I could be asked questions similar to the following:

1. How do you decide when it’s time to recruit someone to your organisation? For example, do you only recruit when someone leaves or do you recruit people regularly at set times of year?

2. What avenues and methods of recruitment do you use? For example do you look inside the organisation first or only outside? What are your reasons for your choice?

3. What methods do you use to let people know the job is available? Online methods? Word of mouth? Other things? Again, what are your reasons for doing it this way?

4. What kinds of assessment format/s do you use to select the person? For example, application forms, ability tests, interviews? Could you describe these in detail? Why do you use these particular assessment processes?

5. What do you find to be the advantages of your selected recruitment and selection approach? Have there been any problems? When it comes to recruiting and selecting staff, would you like to do anything differently? If yes, what are your reasons?

6. Do you do any kind of follow-up after a person has been appointed to a job as a result of the recruitment and selection process? E.g. with the successful candidate? Or with the successful candidate’s supervisor, e.g. to see if the appointment is working out or to see what the supervisor thinks about the selection process? I have had an opportunity to ask student researcher/s name to be inserted here any questions I may have about the research and my participation.

I understand that any taped material, handwritten notes, emails or any other material containing information from the interview will be sent to the subject coordinator, Professor Barrett, in electronic format when the assignment is handed in. The information will be kept secure and confidential as per the procedure on the Participant
