Radio Procedure

Starting a Radio Conversation
When contacting a member of security or other staff on site over the radio you are to follow the correct procedure:
You start the conversation by saying the call sign you want to contact following by your own call sign.
Example: “Mike 1 Mike 1, this is Tango 1 North, over”
The call sign you are contacting will then reply to you to show that he/she has heard your call and is ready to receive the message.
Example: “Tango 1 North this is Mike 1 Send your message, over”
You will then start each message by stating the call sign you are contacting followed by the message you wish to send.
Example: “Mike 1 this is Tango 1 North, Can you please come to my location, over”
The call sign you are contacting will then reply to your message
Example: “Tango 1 North this is Mike 1, that is positive, I am on my way to your location now, over”
You will then reply to the message stating that you received and understood the message from the call sign you were contacting
Example: “Mike 1 this is Tango 1 North Message received, Out”
If you did not receive the full message or the message was broken due to reception you would then ask for the message to be repeated with the following request
Example: “Mike 1 this is Tango 1 North can you please send your message again, over”

Site Staff:” Zero Zero this is Tango 1 North radio Check, over”
Control: “Tango 1 North this is Zero, receiving you loud and clear, over”
Site Staff: “Zero this Tango 1 North Message Received, Out”

Use of names over the radio
When communicating over the radio regarding a visitor or site staff where you have to use their name you follow the following procedure:
Use of a visitor/contractor name over the radio
When you are communicating over the radio regarding a visitor you are allowed to state and spell their name over the radio so that the supervisor or duty manager are aware that the visitor or contractor is on site.
You must use the correct phonetic alphabet when spelling the name of the visitor

Use of a security operative or site staff name over the radio
When you are communicating over the radio regarding a security operative you never use their name in the radio communication. You would refer to the security operative by their call sign e.g. Sierra 1, Sierra 2, and Sierra 3.
