The first person I did my cold war interview with was my grandmother when I sat down to explain to her what this interview was about and what came to mind to her when she thinks of the cold war? My grandmother remembered that the cold war was the perfect name for it because the age she was back then in the 1960’s it will always be remembered and was well talked about. Russia also came to mind when she thought of the cold war. My grandmother was about 13 when the cold war was going on she is now 63. She learned about what was going on during that time in school and also heard about it outside of school it was the topic of discussion. She had to do research on the cold war in school as a project and she found out that The Cold War" is the term used to describe the relationship between the two super powers U.S.A. and U.S.S.R after World War II came to an end in 1945. The 'cold' emphasizes the fact that war never actually broke out between the two countries but that both these countries were always hostile to one another.
The U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. had always been enemies, it was just that they came together to defeat a common enemy Nazi Germany led by Hitler. So, it was no surprise that their mutual hostility continued after Hitler was defeated. The two parties that she knew was involved was the conflict with the west. The USA the USSR two allies who defeated Hitler. My grandmother said that the USA was a capitalist democracy and the USSR was the communist dictatorship. Both which held the key to greatness.
