Churches and Serfs

Hey Paul, I have been thinking. What do you think of that Catholic Church and its beliefs?
I don’t think much of it because all I know for sure is that everyone and everything finds a way to put us down.
You rally think that? I find the church to have been spiritually lifting and giving to likes of us.
Then why is it we are still shoveling mud, and we dong get paid for it, but the lords make it seem like we have been given a gift.
Don’t look at it like that, the church is beautiful and gives us a cause to follow. We might seem like less to others but we have a path of good to follow.
That is hogwash, can you tell me how the church has been good for us serfs out here?
Well of course I can, and also before I really get going on this topic here, I cant quite see why you are so negative towards them when practically every other serf out here humbly offers a hand when it comes to labor needs for the church. Everyone loves to offer a helping hand when the church is needing repairs for it’s foundation or any other need.
Maybe I am simply different because I cannot see past this fog of rage before my eyes. The way the lords and politicians give us basic rights and expect us to pay them for this mediocre lifestyle, while others simply due to where they were born receive everything life is suppose to offer. I feel as though we are segregated from the regular society
Is it the way that we serf’s place our homes near one another. You know why we do this. We find power and safety in numbers.
Well yes and no, I mean why do we have to be bound to our lands with poor living conditions and we work so hard while others receive everything for half of the work that we do?
This is where the church will help you my friend; it provides peace of mind to overcome all of these obstacles and frustrations that come with the life that we have been given. I found the church was able to provide me with the tools to cope with that very same anger I see buried inside you.
So then what is it you and every other serf see in this church?
I felt what you are feeling today, when I invested myself in the church I was able to find new meaning. This life makes it seem like even when you pass you shall return to this same life but in another form. The church explains the path of doing good, and committing oneself to improving themselves, working hard. It allowed me to believe and hope that
The serfs were also economic slaves because of redemption payments which had to be paid for 49 years, these redemption payments in turn had a big impact on Russia because Alexander II failed to realize that to advance industrially he needed a middle class; and this would not be possible seeing as most of the peasants still lived in poverty due to redemption costs, which were just to unrealistic for the peasants to be able to pay off. Alexander II also said “It is better to emancipate the serfs from…

Charlemagne's political background were both strong and organized due to a strong military that they both had. Culturally both Clovis and Charlemagne believed in Christianity and tried to spread the religion by building churches and supporting them. Their social backgrounds were different. Exam 3 I. EARLY MIDDLE AGES A1. The causes for the loss of Classical Culture were the rising beliefs of Christianity. A common language had united the Roman Empire. As Germanic peoples with new languages invaded the empire, this common language was lost and literacy plummeted. Only a few people could read anything of the past, and because of that no one was writing anything new. The savages who attacked the Roman Empire had hardly any use for philosophy or poetry. There was no appreciation for…

their villages where there was good land and water available. They built a bank of earth with a wooden fence on the top of it and inside this they constructed their houses. The poorest homes were made of sticks and mud. These were the homes of the serfs who were little better then slaves. The Ceorls or also known as the freemen were farmers and usually built their homes of wood. The biggest house belonged to the Thegn or Eorl, who was the most important man in the village. The Thegn’s house was built…
advancing fields at that time. Honor also played a big role in shaping the era; oaths of fidelity were taken by many to promise their loyalty to those they served. Advancement of people is perhaps one of the most underestimated changes at that time. Serfs and servants now had a chance to be part of a craft guild. Common people advanced in learning at places such as the University of Heidelberg. Philosophers and theologians also made appearances in the age. New ideas emerged on law, reason, wisdom, and…
