The Life Resource Center (LRC) is a valuable free tool available to University of Phoenix students. Taking some time to explore its website to discover some of the many topics, resources, and tools available is a great way to find information to enhance and support health and wellness.
Complete the following assignment:
Take one of the health risk assessments located on the LRC website. After completing the assessment, write a 500- to 750-word summary that includes the following:
Description of the disease
Risk factors for the disease
Lifestyle choices you can make in your life to decrease your modifiable risk factors for this disease
To locate the health risk assessments follow these instructions:
Login to the student website.
Click on the Programs tab at the top of the page, and then on Life Resource Center under Services.
From the LRC home page, click on Thriving.
Click on Health Tools.
Click on Assess Your Health.

I took the heart diseases health risk assessment and found out that a heart attack is the most common end-result of heart disease. It is caused by what are called blockages of the arteries that feed the heart. Heart attacks are the most common cause of death in men and women in the United Sates today, more common than breast or prostate cancer. Heart attacks are also a major cause of disability, frequently resulting in heart failure and irregular heart rhythms. Fortunately, coronary heart disease is very treatable and preventable. And preventing or reversing blockages in the coronary arteries themselves is the most effective way to prevent heart attacks. There are a lot of ways that you can lower your risk of having a heart attack or having heart disease. The risk factors of this disease are how we live and treat our body’s, basically speaking what we put in them and how we treat them. A balanced diet is very critical in fighting heart disease. Vegetables and fruits play a major part in having good health. Eating three or more servings of vegetables a day will significantly cut down your chances of having heart disease. Although they say that five helpings is even better. You can do this with by drinking vegetable juices instead of soda’s or power drinks, having a salad with your meal, or even carrot and celery sticks as a snack. Fruits are the same way, by eating three or more helpings of fruit each day will help in the fight of heart disease. One way to do this is to have fresh fruit sitting on the counter, or by drinking fruit juice with your lunch or breakfast instead of soda or coffee. The debate over red meat or fish still exists.
