Chiquita Bananas Brands Inc. is an American company that specializes in Bananas but also makes other varieties of produce. Chiquita is an important part of the American economy and will be even more powerful in the future. First of all, Chiquita brands is a runner in the economy. With childhood obesity becoming a large issue, many different solutions have arisen. With Michelle Obama’s focus on exercise and healthy eating on young adults and children, bananas seem to fit in. They are low in calories and high in fiber and potassium. Chiquita Brands Prides itself on its sticker and how children enjoy to put the sticker on their foreheads as shown on their Twitter page. The company also is American based, and moved its headquarters and Research and Development teams to North Carolina on November 29th, 2011. The headquarters alone brought 375 jobs to the country that was still healing from the Great Recession. Chiquita has a total of 20,000 employees. Chiquita Banana also helps out with its investment in transportation. Chiquita imports most of its bananas from Central and South America. This is actually good, because it means that Chiquita invests part of its profits in building better, more fuel efficient ships that are more fuel efficient and can carry more. Since bananas don’t grow all year, other companies can use these ships to more efficiently transport their goods and services to and from the USA. In 10 years, Chiquita Banana will be a great powerhouse in the American foods business.
