In 18th century, the history of United States has been founded on a successful military campaign against the British. The next century came with civil war yet another historical landmark and memorable moments for the American nation. The American Civil War broke out and secession started that consists of a series of events occurred in the early 18th century. 11 states of South made their ties severe with the Union and a confederation of these states was made with a parallel government running with its capital at the Virginia. 21 rest of the states retained the style of Union and held the title of United States of America. Thus American nation had gone through a very tough time in history when due to the secession the withdrawal of country’s 1/3 population with material and human resources to constitute a separate government. The matters settled down in 1860s and the journey of nation moves on. These two great military oriented revolutions left so many cultural effects behind them and we see that American nation had moved in the twentieth century, a century of social revolutions in real sense.
The exact situation in the beginning of 20th century can be known through the intellectual and historic work produced done in that era. One such great work is carried out by J. Johnson Franklin by the name “The American Revolution Considered as a Social Movement” . Jameson had presented with some observations about the historical events and circumstances of community in the late-nineteenth-early-twentieth-century. He points out that the number of students in historical studies was increased dramatically in the twentieth century. He also stated and predicted that the twentieth century will provide better analysis of the revolutionary period with a more objective analysis. He also pointed out about the rising of social history in the end of 19th century. He considered the American Revolution as the base for the upcoming and evolving “Social Revolution” as it was noticed that a clear shift of power from a bunch of individuals to many, in fact all the citizens and common masses was taking place in an effective and phased manner.
The American Revolution followed by Civil War and the post-events had a great and significant social influence on the society. The land laws were changed before the Civil War era thus discouraging any feudal mind-set and approach. America was a considered as a completely different society in which land acquired and/ or owned by an individual was status symbol and showed its influence in society. The institution of slavery, the system of land-holding and the business mechanism were redefined with new terms of engagement that resulted in changing the status of people. Before they had to keep themselves tied with the crown directly and they lacked with much influence or shareable power in the society. All of these ties started to break gradually as the course of history moves forward. The ideal and humanist American society started to evolve by spreading sympathetic relations among each other and even with those traveling out there and were trying their best to survive in the same way.
The adequate and yet affective changes in industry and commerce as a result of American Revolution and Civil war started to influence the socially on a positive node. The Americans after losing access to British manufactured goods after American Revolution, and they started to turn their concentration on the domestic manufacturing. This was the main reason to enhance mutual national coordination and as a result better social interaction was also taking place along with the growth in the local market trade.
